Seven Photographs of the Pink Floyd Concept Mural by Michael Gurnow

Pink Floyd Concept Mural, 2004.
Enamel on Sheetrock, approx. 7 x 10 ft.
The wall is sectioned sheetrock.  I approached it with an eggshell basecoat.  I then painted every single brick on the wall by hand (I had to offset the alignment to compensate for the 3" difference from left-to-right.  I used textured paint in order to further facilitate the appearance of a brick wall.
The client contacted me with the idea of a Pink Floyd representation.  I further added to the idea of incorporating the main images from Floyd's canon.  (Sorry for the glare, I'm still getting a handle on Ektachrome film.)
Notice the faint outline of a triangle outside of the prism.
There is also a faint outline of a fetus within the doorway.  This image jumps forward once a black light is cast upon it.
The wall itself curves approximately 12 degrees prior to meeting the door facing.
The Scorpion Queen.  I paid particular attention to the dimensions of the missing bricks from which she is emerging.
