PY571 COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course presents fundamental statistical theory and methods as used in behavioral science to describe and analyze experimental data. Standard measures for describing the basic characteristics of samples and populations, as well as the theory and methodology of inferential statistics are covered. Specific topics include graphical presentation of frequency distributions, measures of central tendency and variability, probability and the distribution of sample means, standardized distributions, theory of  hypothesis testing, parametric tests of one or two dependent or independent samples, analysis of variance, correlation and regression. The application of statistical methods to behavioral data is examined in detail from an experimental/research orientation.
