PY465 COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course investigates the behavioral, physiological, social and cognitive processes underlying motivation and emotion. What motivates or drives behavior? Why do organisms behave in a predictable (sometimes unpredictable) fashion and what are the basic mechanisms behind observable patterns of behavior? What do we know about emotions and how do we approach the study of emotional responses? What role does learning play and which aspects of motivated or emotional behavior are genetically determined? Theories and the research that supports them are studied in depth as we pursue these questions with an experimental and research oriented approach.
